When using Instant Clash, you may find yourself looking at perhaps too many clash results at once. Alternative clash detection tools offer you the option of Clash Sets, thus reducing your clash results to a specific type, area or level. The good news, you can use the same logic in 3D Repo and review the clashes that matter to you most. Follow the steps below to find out for yourself how quick and easy it is to do.

Step 1. Create a Clash Set

You can create clash sets using the Smart Groups or Manual Groups feature. Essentially, we'll select or isolate model elements based on our search criteria.
For instance, here are some example groups:

  • Universal Beams

  • Universal Columns

  • Web Steel Joists

  • MEP Level 01

  • MEP Level 02

Step 2. Activate a Clash Set

Making use of your clash sets is super easy. All you have to do is the following:

  1. Open Compare Card

  2. Select the models you want to Instant Clash (in this example, it's MEP vs Structure)

  3. Activate Instant Clash

  4. Open the Groups Card

  5. Isolate the groups to focus on clashes between specific categories

Note that your groups must highlight elements from either the Base or Target Models. If you select a group from a model that's not active in the Instant Clash card, you'll get false results.

Step 3. Use Custom Views to go even faster πŸš€

When using clash sets, it can get annoying to flick between the groups every single time. However, you can speed it up and only click once. Make use of the Custom Views feature. Now you can change the camera position and isolate multiple categories at once. πŸ™Œ
