The 3D Repo for Autodesk® Revit® plugin provides a convenient way of uploading your models directly to 3D Repo from within the Revit desktop application.

Currently supported versions: Revit 2020, 2021 & 2022

Initial Setup

  • Before you upload your Revit model, you will need to create a model container in 3D Repo. If you have one already, then you can skip this step

  • Download and install the plugin prior to opening Revit desktop application

  • Open a 3D View in your model (you will use it to publish model geometry)

Model Setup

In the 3D View, you have an option to publish a specific model selection by hiding model elements or using the section box to crop the model. Use it to reduce the file size or subdivide your models before publishing to 3D Repo. You can even apply colour and transparency overrides to elements you wish to highlight.

You must apply all of these changes to the 3D View before publishing your model to 3D Repo. Also, we advise you to take measurements and check that your Revit model units match the model units in 3D Repo.

Model Publish

Great! Now that your model is ready, follow the steps below to publish it to 3D Repo:

  1. Click on the Publish icon located in the 3D Repo tab (main ribbon menu)

  2. In the 3D Repo Model Uploader window provide your login details and click Login. You can switch between 3drepo.io or ca.3drepo.io as the domain server.

  3. Navigate over to your model container by selecting the relevant Teamspace, Project and Model

  4. You will have to provide the following information:
    - Revision Name (alpha-numerical values only & 20 Characters max)
    - Description (optional field)
    - Level of Detail (High is the default)
Lower LOD will reduce your model size in 3D Repo
    - If needed, tick the box to publish textures with your model
    - If needed, tick the box to publish 2D annotations. More info here.
Ensure that ‘Model information’ and ‘Last Revision’ contain the correct information prior to uploading.

  5. Click on the Upload button and the progress bar will appear.
Done will indicate a successful upload, a warning message will tell you otherwise.
