When you publish your Revit model to 3D Repo using the Model Publish or Export use the 2D Annotations options to attach the following information:

  • Floor Plans

  • Sections

  • Elevations

In this example, I'll show you how to add 2D floor plans to your 3D model and how they appear in 3D Repo.

Note: You can only publish 2D annotations when you're uploading or exporting a 3D model geometry. Exporting 2D annotations only will not work.

Add 2D Annotations

Option 1. Publish

  1. Open the 3D view in Revit that you want to publish to 3D Repo

  2. Click on the Publish icon located in the 3D Repo tab (main ribbon menu)

  3. Follow the first 5 steps illustrated in the Revit Plugin - Model Publish article

  4. Check the Annotations box (uncheck if you do not wish to upload annotations)

  5. Select one or multiple boxes to include the 2D views you wish to see in 3D Repo
The table shows the name and type of all 2D views in your Revit model

  6. Click on the Upload button and the progress bar will appear
Done will indicate a successful upload, a warning message will tell you otherwise

Head over to 3drepo.io to check out your 3D model with the 2D drawing you selected

Option 2. Export

  1. Open the 3D view in Revit that you want to publish to 3D Repo

  2. Click on the Export icon located in the 3D Repo tab (main ribbon menu)

  3. Follow the first 4 steps illustrated in the Revit Plugin - Model Export article

  4. Check the Annotations box (uncheck if you do not wish to upload annotations)

  5. Select one or multiple boxes to include the 2D views you wish to see in 3D Repo
The table shows the name and type of all 2D views in your Revit model

  6. Click on the Export button and the progress bar will appear
Done will indicate a successful export, a warning message will tell you otherwise

  7. Now that your file is ready, head over to 3drepo.io and upload the model directly to a model container

Your 3D model now contains the 2D drawings you selected in Revit
