The Custom Surface Area feature uses point snapping and allows you to take accurate measurements of any custom polygonal area in your 3D model. All the measurements you take are recorded in your Measurements Card tool.
We'll cover the following:

Create custom surface area measurements

  • Click on the Measurements icon (Measurements Card will appear)

  • Click on the Custom Polygonal Area icon to activate (orange) the feature
โ€‹Click on it again to deactivate it (grey)

  • Click on the model geometry to start locating points in the model.
    After each click:
    - a point appears in the model
    - a measurement banner displays the incremental area calculation as you add more points

  • The measurement point is:
    - Red when you hover in space
    - Grey when you hover on model geometry
    - Green when you snap onto a surface edge

  • You can spin around the model whilst measuring or selecting your next point

  • To finish your Custom Polygonal Area measurement double click on your final point selection

  • Every Custom Surface Area measurement appears in the Measurements card with the relevant area displayed in the model or federation units. The selected total instantly updates based on the added or removed area
