The Views card allows you to quickly create a set of bespoke 3D Model views. These views will be accessible to other project members, making their model navigation experience swift and easy. Press on saved views to change camera positions or even object visibility or colour overrides. Here I'll explain how to create basic views with different camera positions.

Set up your view

Head over to 3D Repo and open any model/federation where you would like to create a view. Click on the Views (camera) icon to bring up the Views Card.

There are two ways of setting up your model view:

1. Default Views

You can use and toggle the default viewpoints. Click on any of the 6 preset view icons (bottom of the card) to position the camera to the desired view.
Hovering over each will bring up the tooltip names.

  2. Back View

  3. Side View (Left)

  4. Side View (Right)

  5. Top Down

  6. Bottom Up

2. Custom Perspective

Navigate around your model until you find the desired angle.

Toggle between the two views modes (Perspective or Orthographic).
If you get lost, the Extent button (home icon) takes you to the initial model view.

Save a View

Once you are happy with the positioning, you can save your current camera position as a view by doing the following:

  1. Click on the Green Plus button to create a new view
(Located at the bottom right of the views list)

  2. Provide a view name. This helps inform users where the view is.
(This field is limited to 37 Characters)

  3. Click on the Save icon to apply

  4. A default view name is given if you hit save without providing a custom name. You can discard the view by clicking on the X button
